Wade Named New General Manager of Wenatchee Valley Super Oval
WENATCHEE, Wash. (October 19, 2015) – Wenatchee Valley Super Oval announced new General Manager George Wade Saturday Night at the annual awards banquet. Wade has been involved with auto racing in the Pacific Northwest for over 45 years. Wade has spent the last 5 seasons as Manager of Western Speedway in Victoria, BC and has been track manager of Evergreen Speedway, South Sound Speedway, Grays Harbor Raceway Park and Shasta Speedway.
Track Owner Garrett Evans was very excited about the announcement and new addition to his team. “I’ve known George for many years and have always respected what he’s done for the racing community. We’ve talked in past years but the timing just wasn’t right and now it has all lined up.” Said Evans “My wife Shannon has done a great job over these past few years but we wanted to allow her to be an owner and be able to watch our kids race as they move up. I believe that George has all the right tools to get the job done and take WVSO into a new and exciting future.”
“To have the opportunity to come work for the Evans at WVSO is pretty special. The facility is one of the most premier tracks on the West Coast.” Said Wade “I’m excited about coming to Wenatchee, but also have mixed emotions about leaving Victoria because it’s been going so well.”
Over the past few years car counts have dropped at WVSO in many of the local classes. “My ultimate goal is growing the car counts and give the racers some consistency. Racers are just like fans and their concerns need to be addressed and heard. Everybody needs to be happy whether it be fans, drivers and employees.” Said Wade “My strong points are dealing with the racers, because I was racer. I know what it’s like to be treated good and treated bad. “
When asked about the schedule for next year, Wade has hopes for some new and different events. ”We had 10 race weekends this year, I would like to go to maybe 13 next year.” Said Wade “Fans need content and variety, new exciting events. I want to make sure it’s family affordable entertainment.”
